Our Story

We are the Scandrett Family. Kelvin, Sarah and our two children Bronte and  Patrick.

In August 2017 we made the decision to get two bee hives to help pollenate our  pumpkin patch. In 2015 the pumpkin patch produced over 2 tonne of pumpkin  but the following two years we were lucky to get 200-300kgs. Something was  missing. We came to the conclusion it was the BEES

After being approached by a local Apiarist who wanted to put some hives on  our local Sugar cane farm our interest soon quickly grew and as I said in August  we got our first two Nucs (or nucleus colonies). As we learnt and experienced  more and more about the bees we became hooked.

It wasn’t long before we were extracting our first batch of Honey. 27kgs If I  remember correctly. We bottled it and put it in our roadside stall down the front  of our property in Teven, NSW and it all sold within 2 weeks. That was it we  had a taste for it now.

We started our Bee journey saying we will only get 2 hives, September 2018 we  bought 4 new Nucs to bring our Apiary to 11 hives. At the beginning of January  2022 we were just short of 100 hives. Then the floods hit in February.  Unfortunately we lost 20 full hives with Supers.

As 2022 goes on we are rebuilding our hive.

June 2022 Verroa Mites were discovered in sentinel Hives in Australia. Luckily  our area in the Northern Rivers of Australia have not yet been affected by the  mite (Its August at the time of writing this) so our bees are very happy and  healthy.

Sustainability is really important to us, nothing goes to waste when we extract  our Honey. We bottle the honey. The wax gathered during the extraction process  is melted down and strained several times until we get a pure batch of Beeswax.  The beeswax is then used in a variety of ways to create our unique and beautiful  Beeswax Products.

Wax Melts for fragrancing your home or office, Wood polish, Leather polish,  Surf balm, Candles, Beeswax wraps with more products being created all the  time.
